The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles, which was formed in 1979 and is now an independent, registered museum and educational charity has 7,000 members. The Guild's home is to be found within the only European museum dedicated to quilting and is situated in St Anthony's Hall, a medieval guildhall in the historic city of York. From the inception of the Festival of Quilts the Guild has worked in partnership with Creative Exhibitions to provide both contemporary and heritage exhibitions, lecturers, workshops and exhibitions for young people, and a bursary for graduates in textiles studies.
